Fishing Expedition (Published in Gothic Fantasy: Science Fiction Short Stories)

2015 has been a great year for my writing. Perhaps my finest achievement all year has been selling a story to Flame Tree. To quote the publisher’s website, this book is: Hardback Deluxe edition, printed on silver, matt laminated, gold foil stamped, embossed, 280,000 words, 480 pages, 25 illustrations. Wow!

My story is Fishing Expedition, and it marks the first foray into prose for the protagonist, Professor Lazarus. Previously, Lazarus has only featured in a comic strip published by Futurequake Press.

In this story, she is faced by the horror of the sun seemingly being snuffed out. The human race is being fished for sport, but Lazarus has a plan…

Behind The Scenes

Flame Tree is based in Fulham, London, which is only down the road a bit from Hounslow – my birthplace and home for the first 18 years of my life. To sell a story to a company in my old hometown, I had to move to Iowa… Strange how things work out.

Flame Tree is a great company and Gillian Whitaker is an incredibly professional and capable editor.
